Years ago, Cortez Divers, being much impressed with the quality and commitment of the
PDIC organization, crossed over from another major certifying agency and have never
been sorry that we did.
PDIC International has a long history of training recreational SCUBA divers. With
instructors and training facilities located worldwide, PDIC implements a system of
training that is a result of over thirty years of experience. A SCUBA diver carrying the
PDIC C-Card is recognized throughout the world as a quality-trained, safe diver.
The PDIC System consists of the PDIC Complete Course Concept which was designed
from carefully developed teaching methods and procedures. Used in conjunction with the
PDIC Instructor Manual, the PDIC Complete Course Concept will provide the open water
student the opportunity to develop both good skills and the necessary knowledge to
enjoy years of safe, comfortable diving.
The highest degree of safety and quality can be guaranteed by following the PDIC
progressive learning experience through classroom, pool and open ware exercises.
Upon successful completion of the PDIC Open Water course, students are well-trained,
confident and relaxed in the open water environment. All instructors teach the identical
course worldwide.
OPENWATER CERTIFICATION
The openwater certification is the cornerstone of the scuba diving industry's continuing
education program. Once certified, the diver will be able to buy equipment, obtain airfills
and safely dive within the perimeters of the certification.
In this day and age of tight schedules, long work days and short vacations, taking night
classes for weeks at a time can put a strain on ones free time. You can now complete the
academic portion of the program online, at your own pace, from the comfort of your home.
Go to http://www.scuba-training.net/ and complete the academic portion for the basic
scuba course. Once completed, you will receive a certificate and referral. The cost of the
academic portion is $84.95
The confined water and openwater dives can be completed in two days in San Carlos bay,
Sonora Mexico. The beach will be your classroom and in the warm, clear water of the Sea
of Cortez you'll complete your openwater dives and receive your certification. Simply book
any two consecutive days from June 1st to October 31st. The cost for the confined and
openwater dives is $300.00
ADVANCED OPENWATER
The advanced openwater course takes the certified diver a huge step forward in their
diving education. Consisting of five modules, the advanced openwater class prepares the
diver for a variety of underwater activities. The beach will be your classroom and there you
will receive the training to participate in night diving, deep diving and search and recovery.
In addition, the student will become proficient in the art of natural and compass navigation.
In keeping with Cortez Diver's commitment to go one step further, we offer an additional
class in the use of diver propulsion vehicles. DPV's or underwater scooters, as they are
more commonly referred to, are a gas and add a different dimension to your excursions in
the underwater world. This course will be offered at the completion of the advanced
course and is free. The cost of the advanced openwater class is $175.00
DIVEMASTER / DIVE SUPERVISOR
The divemaster course is your entry into the professional ranks of the dive industry.
Divemasters assist instructors, oversee dive operations, guide divers underwater and train
skin divers. Divemasters are much in demand in dive shops, on liveaboards and at dive
resorts around the world.
A divemaster certification is a prerequisite to enter the instructor course and any scuba
instructor worth his salt is first and foremost a very competent divemaster. An advanced
openwater certification and a minimum of 35 logged dives are nessesary to enter the
program with a total of 60 dives to graduate. The rescue diver certification is incorporated
into the program and the applicant must hold a CPR certification. The divemaster program
is ongoing and may be entered at any time. Cost for the divemaster program is $750.00
